The Southern Nevada Health District is urging the public to take precautions against high levels of respiratory viruses in the Las Vegas area, including flu, COVID-19 and RSV.
The health district said as of Dec. 28, 438 people have been hospitalized related to the flu, and seven others have died of the virus. Wastewater surveillance shows moderate concentrations of COVID-19, and high concentrations of RSV and influenza A in the Las Vegas area.
Officials recommended the community get vaccinated, wash their hands thoroughly and seek treatment, especially if they're at higher risk.
They also said people who are sick should stay home and avoid contact with others. Those who are immunocompromised should wear a high-quality mask.
Free COVID-19 self-test kits are available at sites throughout Clark County, including Laughlin and Mesquite: snhd.info/covid-testing.
