Thousands Of Nevadans Ineligible For PUA Payments

Tens of thousands of Nevadans who applied for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance will be told over the next few weeks they won’t receive aid.

The Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation says nearly 217,500 notices will be sent over the next three weeks.

The department says people are deemed ineligible for benefits if staff workers cannot verify their identities. The department also said that a lot of the ineligible claims are suspected to be fraudulent.

Anyone found ineligible can file an appeal. The PUA provides benefits to self-employed, gig and contract workers who are not covered by standard unemployment insurance.
