LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada city where President Donald Trump held an indoor Republican campaign rally is fining the venue owner $3,000 for violating coronavirus prevention requirements imposed by the state's Democratic governor.

Henderson officials told Xtreme Manufacturing owner Donald Ahern on Monday that the indoor event for thousands of people at his rental company warehouse in suburban Las Vegas violated Gov. Steve Sisolak's COVID-19 emergency directives.

The rules prohibit gatherings larger than 50 people, require distance between them, and mandate masks or face coverings.

Ahern's attorney acknowledged receiving notice from the city and says it will decide whether to challenge the fine. He has 30 days.
