Nevada Panel Considering Reopening Bars At Midnight Thursday

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The head of Nevada's new coronavirus compliance review panel says decisions will be made Thursday about whether bars and other businesses will be allowed to reopen just hours later in the two largest metropolitan areas and four rural counties.

COVID-19 response chief Caleb Cage acknowledged Wednesday that directions provided during a task force meeting Thursday might give hundreds of business owners as little as 12 hours' notice about whether they can reopen.

Washoe County's health officer also said Wednesday he supports reopening bars in Reno-Sparks. He says it's easier to combat the spread of COVID-19 in regulated environments than at large gatherings at private residences.
