Reno Council Ends Live Public Comment At Virtual Meetings

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The Reno City Council will no longer allow live public comment during virtual city council meetings after five people used the forum to make vulgar or racist comments or bomb threats during a June meeting.

City spokesman Jon Humbert told the Reno Gazette-Journal that members of the public will now only be allowed to submit emails, an online form or leave voicemails with their comments.

The comments will not be read or played during the meeting but the city clerk will make them part of the meeting's official record, generally after the meeting has ended.
