PAC Created To Oppose Mask Mandate

A new political action committee has been created to oppose the COVID-19 mask requirement in Nevada.

No Mask Nevada PAC announced its formation in a statement Sunday.

The group is circulating a petition and organizing protests, claiming Governor Steve Sisolak is depriving citizens of liberty without any due process or input from the legislative branch.

On Monday, Sisolak called No Mask Nevada PAC "outright dangerous" for opposing the mask mandate.

The group issued a response suggesting that Sisolak sign a directive making Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman the governor.

The group said Sisolak needs to step aside so, “Goodman and others who have more experience in government can figure out how to handle the flu without shutting down the economy." '

According to the Southern Nevada Health District from November 2018 to August 2019, 62 people died from influenza and 980 people were hospitalized.

Since the first death from COVID-19 was recorded in Southern Nevada in March 2020 until Monday, June 29, 2020, 414 people in the region have died from COVID-19.
