Former Party Chair Trails In Heated Nevada State Senate Race

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Roberta Lange, a former Nevada Democratic Party chairwoman endorsed by former U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, trailed a sitting assemblywoman in a hotly contested race for a Las Vegas-area state Senate seat.

Lange also was backed by Las Vegas' Culinary Union Local 226, which tried to adapt its well-known get-out-the-vote apparatus amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Long lines and extended wait times at the limited number of polling places open on Tuesday delayed the initial publication of election results to early Wednesday. The primary was largely conducted with mailed-in ballots.
