Health District Says State Has Made Great Strides In Stopping Virus Spread

The Southern Nevada Health District’s Community Health Division Director assured residents the state has made great strides in controlling the spread of COVID-19.

In an online question-and-answer session Wednesday, Dr. Michael Johnson said while coronavirus cases have plateaued, the fight isn’t yet over.

As of Thursday, the health district reported 202 people have died from COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. It also reports 3,979 cases of the virus, with about 65 percent of people recovering from it.

Johnson says the health district is working with communities to roll out plans to reopen southern Nevada in phases.
