Clark County officials are considering the building plans for the Virgin Train station along Las Vegas Boulevard.

The project will provide a high-speed rail link between Las Vegas and Southern California, including a proposed station off Las Vegas Boulevard between El Dorado Lane and Robindale Road. The site would span some 273,000 square feet and consist of a main terminal and several parking garages.

Plans are also being made for retail and office space. From the Las Vegas station, riders would travel 170 miles to a planned Victor Valley station, near Victorville, California.

Construction on the $4.8 billion high-speed rail link is scheduled to begin later this year.
