Resource Document For Sex Assault Victims Passes Legislature

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Legislation that requires hospitals to provide victims of sexual assault with a document outlining resources for them is headed to the governor's desk.

The Assembly bill cleared the Nevada Legislature on Tuesday with a unanimous vote in the state Senate. The measure says hospitals will ensure the document is provided to victims of sexual assault or attempted sexual assault.

The document under the bill will include information on emergency contraception, a list of locations that test for sexually transmitted diseases and a list of clinics that specialize in serving sexual assault victims.

The legislation stipulates that a division within the Department of Health and Human Services would start a group to develop the document.
