Steve Seroka stepped down from the Las Vegas City Council Monday night.
A letter he submitted to the city said his resignation is effective immediately but it did not offer a reason for his choice to leave the Ward 2 seat.
A recall effort against Seroka was a week away from the signature collection deadline. At a meeting Wednesday, the council will decide whether to appoint a replacement or hold a special election.
