Nevada Congressional Delegation Aims To Give States More Say In Nuclear Waste Issues

Nevada’s congressional delegation is working on securing a larger decision-making role for states concerning disposal of nuclear waste.

Under the Nuclear Waste Informed Consent Act, any funding for a nuclear waste disposal site would need approval from the state’s governor, as well as local government and tribal stakeholders.

Nevada Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen introduced the act, along with Representatives Dina Titus, Susie Lee and Steven Horsford.
