LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Nevada Supreme Court has upheld murder convictions and a death sentence for a 32-year-old self-styled pimp who killed three people in a vehicle-to-vehicle shooting and fireball crash on the Las Vegas Strip nearly five years ago.
The court ruled Dec. 27 the jury that found Ammar Harris guilty in October 2015 didn't need to see gruesome photos of charred bodies from the February 2013 carnage.
But a 5-2 majority decided that because video and witness evidence was overwhelming, the photos did not irreversibly taint Harris' trial.
Harris' former attorney, Robert Langford, predicted Wednesday that Harris will appeal to federal courts.
Harris mortally wounded Kenneth Wayne Cherry Jr., as Cherry drove a sports car that slammed into a taxi that exploded in flames, killing cab driver Michael Boldon and passenger Sandra Sutton-Wasmund of Maple Valley, Washington.
