Vegas Team Of Officers, Troopers Targets Drunken Drivers

LAS VEGAS (AP) — State and local police agencies have formed a team of officers to step up enforcement against drunken drivers in Las Vegas.

Officials say the new team consists of four Las Vegas police officers and three state troopers who are skilled DUI investigators familiar with problem areas.

The idea behind the team is that its members will be able to spot impaired drivers and get them off the road before possibly causing collisions.

The team has a truck for testing and booking DUI suspects and vehicles that blend into other traffic until the vehicles' lights and sirens are turned on.

The team has made 150 DUI arrests since its creation in October.
