Sandoval Administration Reveals Budget Handed To Governor-Elect Sisolak

Republican Governor Brian Sandoval will leave office in January, but not before handing over his office’s budget proposal to Democrat Steve Sisolak.

The Nevada Independent reports Sandoval’s office is prepared to release its revenue projections at this week’s Economic Forum.

The projection will be about $8.8 billion – quite a bit higher than the current $8.1 billion in place right now. Sandoval’s plan calls for no new taxes and does not include funding for the Education Savings Account.

The budget does call for doubling the weighted funding formula and $78 million toward school safety.

Sisolak, along with a new Democratic supermajority assembly and democratic majority senate, are responsible for laying out the next budget and tweaking it during the 120-day, 2019 legislative session.
