CCSD Faces Tough Financial Decisions After Court Decision

The Clark County School District is facing financial decisions after a one-time offer of a 3 percent payment to all employee bargaining groups was undercut by a District Court decision to uphold a $51.5 million arbitration award to teachers.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that according to Superintendent Jesus Jara the district doesn’t have enough money set aside to enable it to pay for increased salary and health care benefits for teachers while also funding the offer to all employees.

Jara said the district’s legal team is reviewing the decision, which was issued on Friday.
