Burning Man organizers are pushing back on traffic stops along the main road to the event’s Black Rock location, calling them "unconstitutional" and expressing concern that the stops are impeding preparations for the annual event, which begins on Sunday.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that organizers expect about 60,000 people to travel to Burning Man this week using State Route 447, where both Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribal authorities and Bureau of Indian Affairs officers have been stopping vehicles since late last week.
The organizers say the stops have slowed operations to prepare the opening of Black Rock City this weekend.
