Sen. Cortez Masto Co-Sponsoring Bill To Increase Funding For Drones

Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto is co-sponsoring legislation to increase funding for drone integration.

It’s part of a package that would provide $6 million toward unmanned aircraft systems research.

The bill was introduced by Senator Mark Warner, a Democrat from Virginia, but also cosponsored by John Hoeven, a Republican from North Dakota.

In a statement, Cortez Masto lauded Nevada as a leader in drone technology as one of only seven FAA-designated national test sites in the country.

The bill is designed to help grow and sustain the drone industry by helping train an appropriate workforce.

It would double the current standards of funding as set forth by the FY 19 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development portion of the budget.
