Washoe County Educators Rallying For Better School Funding And Teacher Pay

Educators in Washoe County are holding a rally Saturday morning to raise awareness about education funding in Nevada. It begins at 9:30 in front of the Washoe County Complex on East Ninth St.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the event aims to spur voter support for candidates who are committed to increased funding for schools and better pay for teachers.

Nevada sits near the bottom of national rankings in education funding, spending less than $9-thousand per student on average compared to states like Massachusetts and Vermont, which spend between $15-thousand and $20-thousand per student.
