Clark County Unveils Public Land Proposal

Clark County officials have publicly unveiled a land proposal they’ve been working on for more than a year.

The plan includes asking Congress to release almost 39,000 acres of federal land along Interstate 15 for development, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. It also requests designating more than 370,000 acres around Southern Nevada as protected wilderness.

About 300 people attended an open house Tuesday to look over documents and ask questions.

Interested parties in attendance at the meeting, including outdoor recreation hobbyists, conservationists, and potential developers, complained the public comment window is too short.

The Clark County Commission vote on the ordinance is scheduled for June 19.
