Construction of the UNLV medical school will likely be delayed due to recent developments at the university.
The Nevada Independent reports a lack of fundraising and a university presidential search will impact construction of the medical school, which is still tens of millions of dollars below its targeted goals.
The issue was addressed at a finance committee meeting yesterday, where school officials updated lawmakers on the progress of the medical school.
UNLV Foundation executive Scott Roberts told legislators total fundraising for the $250 million project still stands at $50 million.
The school lost a significant $14 million private donation from the Engelstad Family Foundation after reports that university president Len Jessup was being forced to leave by the board of regents.
