Elko County IDs Victim In Officer-Involved Shooting

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — The Elko County sheriff's office has released the identify of a man who was shot to death by sheriff's deputies after he shot and killed his wife at a residence in rural northeast Nevada.

Sheriff Jim Pitts says 31-year-old Jared S.R. Williams worked for an express delivery service.

He told the Elko Daily Free Press Monday that the estranged wife, 33-year-old Karen Williams, had recently moved into the home in Spring Creek.

Deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute there at 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

Pitts says Karen Williams' sister let the deputies in the house. They heard arguing in a bedroom but when they opened the door, the man shot his wife and then was shot by the officers.

Four children at the home at the time of the shooting have been placed in their aunt's care
