Elko Planning Commission Rejects Marijuana Regulations

The Elko Planning Commission rejected a proposal this week to ban marijuana sales in the city through a zoning amendment.

The Elko Daily Free Press reports it was a narrow 4-3 vote, which was passed to the Elko Planning Commission after the initial vote but the Elko City Council in October.

Only one council member on the five-member board opposed the ban, and local law enforcement officials have voiced support for the ban as well. The council could still adopt the ban in spite of the planning commission’s recommendation.
