USDA Approves $9M Loan For New Justice Center In White Pine Co.

The Department of Agriculture Rural Development program has approved a $9 million loan to White Pine County to help finance the construction of a new justice center that will include a 38,000-square-foot courthouse.

The current White Pine County Courthouse was built a century ago in Ely and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

As a new facility is built, the old courthouse is expected to be converted into administrative offices. Construction of the new courthouse begins in 2018 and will have an estimated total cost of $17 million.
