Mormon Church Lifts Ban On Single Men, Divorced Members Service In Some Temple Ceremonies

The Mormon church has updated some of its policies regarding volunteers in the church, in a move that some say reflects an evolving attitude of gender roles.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints has lifted a longstanding policy banning single men over the age of 30 and LDS members who had been divorced from officiated in some temple rituals.

Single women over the age of 30 were already allowed to serve in that capacity. No official reason was given for lifting the prohibitions.
