Former State Sen. Halseth Announces Plans To Run Again

Former Republican State Senator Elizabeth Halseth said Thursday that she plans to run again for the state Senate in 2018.

Halseth confirmed her intentions to run for Senate District 8 today to the Nevada Independent. Halseth resigned from her seat in 2012 after just a year in office amid family challenges.

District 8 will be an open seat left by Independent Senator Patricia Farley who has said she will not seek re-election.

She said that education will be a significant focus of her campaign has a mother of three children, as well as diversifying and growing the economy.

When elected in 2010, Halseth became the youngest woman elected to the state senate at 27 years old.
