Interior Secretary Plans Nevada Monument Visit

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke is expected to touch down in the Silver State early next week.

The Las Vegas Review Journal reportsZinke is scheduled to hear opposing views on two of Nevada’s national monuments in his ongoing review. Zinke’s schedule includes a meeting in Mesquite with advocacy groups followed by a roundtable with state and local officials in Overton on Monday.

Zinke is in the midst of reviewing 22 national monuments created by presidential decree since 1996 to determine if the designations should be scaled back or eliminated. In Nevada, that includes Gold Butte in northeastern Clark County and Basin and Range in Lincoln and Nye Counties.
