Nye Co. Sheriff Investigating Suicide At Nevada Southern Detention Center

A corrections employee committed suicide Tuesday at the Nevada Southern Detention Center in Pahrump.

CoreCivic is the company that owns and manages the Nevada Southern Detention Center, and company officials said they are cooperating fully with local law enforcement as it investigates the incident.

The Nye County Sheriff’s Office, whose jurisdiction includes Pahrump, is investigating. The detention facility houses federal inmates awaiting trial, including rancher Cliven Bundy and about a dozen of his supporters.
