LV City Council Considering Further Short-Term Rental Restrictions

Las Vegas City Council is considering restricting short-term rentals, like those advertised by services like Airbnb.

The Las Vegas Sun reports two councilmembers, Bob Coffin and Lois Tarkanian, have approved a bill mandating a second type of permit for people who want to make their property available for short-term rentals within city limits.

At present, people wishing to draw income from short-term rentals have to have a business license.

The bill would also limit the amount of short-term rental properties available in a neighborhood, requiring such buildings to be a minimum of 660 feet apart.

Regulations would also mandate homeowners stay with their guests during rentals if the property in question has more than five bedrooms.

Las Vegas City Council will take up the proposal at its meeting on June 7.
