Las Vegas Gambler To Face Insider Trading Charges

Las Vegas gambler William "Billy" Walters is going to trial Monday on charges of making more than $40 million through insider trading.

Walters is renown as a wealthy professional sports gambler, with connections to star golfer Phil Mickelson.

Jury selection was set to begin this morning in Manhattan.
Walters was arrested in May 2016 in Las Vegas on charges of securities and wire fraud.

Prosecutors accused him of trading on tips about Dean Foods Co from the company's former chairman, Tom Davis, making $43 million in profits and avoiding losses between 2008 and 2014. Walters was also accused of making $1 million trading on a tip about Darden Restaurants Inc.
