Jury Indicts Las Vegan For Forging Signatures On Ballot Petition

A Clark County grand jury has indicted a 55-year-old man who's accused of falsifying signatures in an effort to get Green Party candidates on the Nevada ballot.

Nevada officials announced Thursday that Las Vegas resident Renaldo Johnson is charged with 15 felony counts, including perjury and obtaining and using personal identifying information of another.

Johnson was working as a signature gatherer in the Nevada Green Party's effort to get its candidates on the ballot through a petition. The indictment says he knowingly put people's addresses and signatures on the petition without their permission in late May and early June.

A phone number for Johnson couldn't be located.

The petition effort ultimately fell short and Green Party candidates including presidential hopeful Jill Stein did not appear on Nevada's ballot.
