CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Officials say Nevada's unemployment rate is continuing to steadily improve, with the figure dropping to 5.8 percent.
Gov. Brian Sandoval noted Wednesday that March jobless figures from the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation reflect a 44-month trend of job growth.
Chief state economist Bill Anderson says businesses added a seasonally-adjusted 6,500 jobs last month.
He says construction is leading the way, adding 5,900 jobs since January, for a 9.1 percent growth rate.
Trade, transportation and utilities have gained 9,200 jobs this year, up 3.9 percent.
Since peaking at 13.7 percent in the summer of 2008, the state jobless rate declined or held steady every month since October 2010.
Anderson says the number of people filing for unemployment insurance is down, and personal income is up.
