Baker To Address GOP Jewish Group In Las Vegas

BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker is headed to Las Vegas to speak at a weekend event that will feature several top conservative leaders and a controversial Texas minister.

Baker, a Republican, is scheduled to attend The Republican Jewish Coalition's spring leadership meeting. His office says he will leave Massachusetts Friday night and return on Sunday.

The RJC's website says Texas senator and GOP presidential hopeful Ted Cruz is also set to speak, along with Florida Gov. Rick Scott and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, all Republicans.

Another confirmed speaker is Pastor John Hagee, who has criticized the Catholic Church and once preached that God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land.

A Baker spokesman told The Boston Globe the governor "denounces that type of hateful rhetoric."
