Oceguera Drops Out Of CD-4 Race

Democratic former Nevada Assembly Speaker John Oceguera says he's decided to end his campaign for Congress.

Oceguera released a statement Wednesday saying he wasn't able to raise enough money for the race. He said he was grateful for his supporters and would do what he could to help Hillary Clinton win the presidency and Democrat Catherine Cortez Masto win the Senate race.

Oceguera said he wouldn't immediately endorse another candidate in the crowded Democratic primary for Nevada's 4th Congressional District, which includes North Las Vegas and rural Nevada. Others in the race include philanthropist Susie Lee, state Sen. Ruben Kihuen, former Assemblywoman Lucy Flores and former Assemblyman Morse Arberry.

Oceguera served for 12 years in the Legislature and made an unsuccessful bid for Congress against Rep. Joe Heck in 2012.
