Las Vegas Sands Proposes New Stadium

Las Vegas Sands Corp. and Majestic Realty Co. have announced plans for a new 65,000-seat football stadium by the UNLV campus.

The Las Vegas Sun reports the companies told the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee the stadium would improve the city’s chances of bringing in an NFL team.

The proposal estimated the project will cost $1.3 billion, including public funding. If the project is greenlit, building could start in late 2017. Majestic Realty executive Craig Cavileer said the stadium could open in 2020.
