Las Vegas Police Investigating Shootings Near Schools

Police in Las Vegas are investigating two shootings from vehicles that injured two people near schools on opposite sides of the city.

There were no reports that children were hurt.

Police said they were called after multiple shots were fired and a car crashed Tuesday morning on a street near Harold Brinley Middle School. That's near Smoke Ranch Road.

The driver of the vehicle was hospitalized with gunshot and crash injuries, and the school was locked down while police searched for a dark SUV from which shots were reported to have been fired.

Police also are investigating after a person with a gunshot wound walked into a supermarket and told police the shooting happened Tuesday afternoon near Whitney Elementary School. That's near Tropicana Avenue and Boulder Highway.
