9 Small Airports Awarded FAA Grant money For Improvements

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Nine small airports located mostly in rural Nevada are getting federal grant money for improvements totaling $6.2 million.

The Federal Aviation Administration awarded the Ely Airport-Yelland Field the largest amount in the state with $2.1 million for runway pavement reconstruction and taxiway rehabilitation, according to an announcement by Sen. Harry Reid.

Minden-Tahoe Airport will get about $1.4 million to rehab the taxiway and apron pavement.

In Elko County, Jackpot/Hayden Field Airport near the Idaho border and Owyhee Airport will spend money to increase safety and accessibility and address snow removal needs, respectively.

For Boulder City Municipal Airport, $478,000 will go toward a master plan study update.

Other airports, including Derby Field in Pershing County, Fallon Municipal, Lincoln County and Alamo Landing Field in Lincoln County, were also awarded grant money.
