The John Oliver Simon Award goes each year to a full-time student in Clark County, or from Clark County. This year's winners are Logan Harms, Northern Arizona University (and Coronado High) in first place and Rob Tomolillo, Nevada State University, in second. They and a few other Nevada poets will be reading their work.

This scholarship program was founded by Bruce Isaacson, first Poet Laureate of Clark County, Nevada. Clark County has supported the program over many years. Lila Brissette was the first winner in 2016 and helped endow the program years later, and helped choose this year's winners.
