Some of Las Vegas' best gifts of the season: art, drag performances, poetry, and more

Through Dec. 22

If you're dying to see Santa Claus this holiday season, you can catch both him and Mrs. Claus for the later half of December at the North Pole Express. This train excursion will have you singing to your favorite carols while indulging in holiday sweet treats. You might even have a chance encounter with a snowstorm along the way.

Dec. 13 - Feb. 22

The past four years for Cida de Aragon has been made up of artistic work dedicated for this very exhibition. This art isn't like any other ordinary painting; it will showcase technological work. It will include video, photography and even 3D computer art. Visit Sahara Library to discover more about Cida de Aragon's digital work.

Dec. 14

The National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas is here, everyone. But, people aren't just attending for the horses. This weekend will be packed with music, poetry readings, and lots of opportunity for family fun. With special guests such as Waddie Mitchell, Dave Stamey, and Trinity Seely, as well as gear-making experts, folks can get not just a taste of cowboys, but a taste of Elko too.

The rumor has persisted for centuries that Good Queen Bess commissioned Shakespeare to pen The Merry Wives of Windsor, desiring to see the affable Sir John Falstaff (of Henry IV fame) get his own love story. And love story it sort of is, as the two Windsor wives whom Sir John has set his heart upon decide to out him as a lecher. This is one of the Bard’s less well-known works, so it’s a treat to see it staged by any company, let alone the always-entertaining Nevada Conservatory Theatre.

It's time for the happy holidays- but make it drag!

Luckily, the Las Vegas festive season celebrates art within many forms. Spend yours through the art of both theatre and drag performances at Majestic Repertory Theatre for Bad Karma: The Naughty List. Here, you'll get to see host Karma and Santa's medley of drag performers.
