The Railroad Pass Casino opened August 1, 1931 and offered a bit of a respite from the strict rules of the Sims Ely-ruled Boulder Canyon Federal Reservation (now known as Boulder City) where drinking and gambling were not allowed.
Where "gaiety was the password," that gave you access to "cold, refreshing drinks," plus gambling and entertainment from a five-piece orchestra. Behind the casino were a bunch of small cabins where there was another form of... entertainment.
The Railroad Pass Casino still sits on the edge of Las Vegas just as you head into Boulder City. It is now owned by the Mandalay Resort Group.
