The Race For Governor

Governor Brian Sandoval is finishing up his last term, leaving the seat wide open.

Several people are vying to lead the state, including County Commissioners Steve Sisolak and Chris Giunchigliani on the Democratic side and Attorney General Adam Laxalt and State Treasurer Dan Schwartz on the Republican side.

But those are just the candidates who have received the most attention. Las Vegas businessman Jared Fisher is running as a Republican and Ryan Bundy, best known for his conflicts with the federal government over public lands issues, is running as an independent.

The Primary Election, where the field will be narrowed, is in June. Then in November, voters will pick the new CEO of the state in the General Election.

Editor's note: Not everyone who announced they are running for governor, with either a press release, webpage or an announcement on Facebook, will get an on-air interview on State of Nevada.

State of Nevada is a statewide program dedicated to covering issues not just political, but economic and cultural. We’ve limited air-time to candidates who have demonstrated the financial viability and ability to raise campaign funds; who have demonstrated a serious command of the issues; and who have substantial name recognition.
