There is a lot going on in Nevada right now. The legislature is meeting, as it does every two years for four months.
What do you want from them? What are the most pressing issues in the state they need to fix? Do you think tax incentives — giveaways — to Hollywood movie studios is the right thing to do?
And think about the fact that this state gives tax incentives, and big ones, to so many businesses — from baseball and football teams, to data centers, to a mega gigafactory for Tesla batteries. This is on top of the fact that we have some of the lowest business taxes in the country.
Do we keep doing it? Do we haveto do it to draw business to Nevada?
If we stop tax incentives and fewer businesses move here, fewer people move here for jobs. That means fewer kids in our schools — then will we have enough money to support our schools?
This is our one-hour open mic show. Email son@knpr.org with your thoughts.
