David Bert, Who Took KNPR Listeners 'Along The Way,' Dies

Longtime KNPR contributor David Bert, whose “Along the Way” travel segments showcased the beauty of the desert outback, has died.

He shared his love of the outdoors through “Along the Way,” which took listeners to noteworthy sites within a half-day’s drive of Las Vegas.

“David was part of the Nevada Public Radio family for years and we’re very grateful for the treasure trove of stories he created,” said Nevada Public Radio President and CEO Flo Rogers.

Besides his contributions to KNPR, Bert hosted the “Outdoor Nevada” show on VegasPBS and assisted Red Rock casino in developing its outdoor adventure activities. He also worked for many years for chef Wolfgang Puck, starting at Spago in Beverly Hills and relocating to Las Vegas when Puck began opening restaurants there.

Some favorite moments from “Along the Way” are below, and the show archives can be found here.
