Nevadans often think of themselves as embodying traditional American values. They say that we're a conservative state compared to, say, California or New York. A century ago, however, a Chicago-based, female anarchist came to the state to praise our very progressive divorce laws. Those liberal laws conclusively proved, she said, that marriage was a failure as an institution.
No wonder that FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover dubbed her "the most dangerous woman in America."
