The search was called off yesterday for a local pilot.

Michael Martin, 65, was considered an experienced pilot who owned his own plane. He took off alone from North Las Vegas Airport on Jan. 2 and has not been seen since.

In the last two weeks, crews from various agencies, including the Nye County Sheriff's Office, have combed over hundreds of square miles from both the air and the ground, in areas where the aircraft was last seen on radar or cellular phone service, which indicated an area near Tonopah.

Although the search has been suspended, the investigation into Martin’s disappearance remains open.
