Officials: Some Vaccination Slots Going Unused In Las Vegas Area

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Coronavirus management officials are acknowledging that some appointment slots are going unused in Las Vegas and that more doses are available than are being administered at the area's two biggest vaccination sites.

But state COVID-19 response chief Caleb Cage didn't promise immediate changes or say Wednesday that the recipient pool would soon expand statewide to people 55 and older.

People 65 and older became eligible for vaccinations last month, and a group of front-line workers became eligible last week.

The two big vaccination sites can handle 4,000 appointments daily, but an official says neither regularly sees 3,000.
