Governor Steve Sisolak is calling President Donald Trump’s threat to withhold federal funds from the state over the June 9 primary inappropriate and outrageous.
He said the state is exercising its authority to run elections in a safe and legal manner during the coronavirus pandemic.
That was in response to the president’s tweet expressing concerns about voter fraud and threatening to withhold funds if the June 9 primary is held mainly through the mail.
A federal judge recently cleared Nevada’s decision to mail ballots, which were sent by the Republican Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, who noted in a statement that the decision was made in partnership with election officials from the state’s 17 counties and that many safeguards are in place.
