Las Vegas City Council To Consider Lease For Zappos Special Event Center

The Las Vegas City Council will consider leasing land downtown to Zappos for an $8 million special events facility and public tavern, during a council meeting Wednesday.

The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the fuselage of a Boeing 747 aircraft featured at the last few Burning Man festivals will be part of the project, which would open in September.

Records show the lease of $10 per year would run through January 1, 2024.

Zappos and city officials expect the project to attract weddings, corporate parties, concerts and festivals, along with the tavern’s customers.

The city estimates the project would provide 55 jobs directly and indirectly. The site is near the company’s headquarters and is currently used for employee parking.
