California State Senate Puts Up Roadblock To Mojave Desert Water Transfer

A bill in the California legislature might present a challenge to a proposed water transfer project in the Mojave Desert.

The state senate has passed a bill to add more environmental impact review requirements for the removal of groundwater from desert regions.

Cadiz Incorporated wants to pull 16.3 billion gallons of groundwater from the Mojave’s aquifer into the Colorado River Aqueduct.
