This week U.S. Representative Jacky Rosen introduced legislation to create a grant program in the Labor Department to support the creation of apprenticeship programs in cybersecurity.
The bill is modeled after Nevada’s cybersecurity apprenticeship program approved by the state Apprenticeship Council in May.
Rosen said the goal is to ensure businesses and government have the skilled people and tools they need to protect the nation’s cybersecurity.

The grants awarded by the Labor Department would not only support the creation and expansion of such programs but also provide mentorship and assistance with things such as transportation, housing and childcare costs.
The bipartisan bill is known as the “Cyber Ready Workforce Act.”
